New Day, Same Godਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 2 ― How can we trust the word of God in a changing world?
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” ― Isaiah 40:8
Imagine picking the most beautiful spray of flowers from a field of lavender. Can you just smell the calming, herbal fragrance of lilac? Say that you gather this bouquet and put it in your favorite vase. As lovely as this sweet bouquet might be, the gorgeous foliage will eventually wither and lose its original beauty.
If the word of God had the properties of a flower, we would have no foundation to build on and be lost. God is our refuge and a very present help (see Psalm 46:1), because His Word is firmly fixed (see Psalm 119:89), and His truth endureth to all generations (see Psalm 100:5). As a result, we gain many benefits from being sure of what we believe.
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
Scripture provides protection for those of us who choose to abide by it. But when we’re not wearing our armor, we get bruised and hurt, sad and depressed, and even doubtful and tempted. This neglect, along with Satan’s distortion of the truth, is how we can fall. The only answer for us in these changing times is standing on the Word of God.
Let’s pray together:
I put on the full armor of God, with the belt of truth buckled around my waist (see Ephesians 6:11-14). Times are changing, but I don’t have to worry about keeping up with the world’s pace. Thank you for your unchanging nature, Lord, and for being the security I can always depend on. You are the same God who created time and space, and I commit my life to you. Thank you for delivering me from the world, my times are in your hands (see Psalm 31:15). In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
About this Plan

The Bible is old, outdated, and does not apply to the twenty-first century; these are the sentiments that some believe by the actions they demonstrate. Bree Jackson uses scripture to illustrate that the Word of God is very much alive and active in the times we live. In New Day, Same God, Bree challenges us to consider three important questions: How can we be sure that God is the same? How can we trust the Word of God in a changing world? And how can we follow God’s Word when the world contradicts it?
