Dear Mama: God’s Not Done With Your Story

DAY 6 OF 7

When I Thought It Was Too Late (Ashley’s Story)

Dear Mama,

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “It’s too late for me.”

Ashley did.

Years of addiction had taken everything—her home, her children, her stability, her identity. Rock bottom didn’t even feel like a drop—it felt like she had sunk into a pit she couldn’t climb out of.

And yet, in the middle of her lowest moment, God wasn’t absent. He was preparing a rescue.

She had lost custody of her kids. She had tried to get clean more than once and failed. She carried the weight of loss after a miscarriage and deep shame over every bad decision. Then, one day, holding her newborn daughter, she wept. Not just from exhaustion—but from revelation.

She knew she didn’t want to raise another child in cycles of addiction. She knew something had to change.

So she reached out. She made a call. She took a step. And God met her there.

He didn’t shame her. He didn’t lecture her. He did what He always does for His daughters—He opened a door. And Ashley walked through it.

Over time, she rebuilt. Slowly. Quietly. Faithfully.

And today? She’s walking in freedom. Her relationship with her son is restored. Her daughter is growing up in a home filled with light and hope. The girl who thought it was too late is now a woman who knows what redemption really looks like.

Mama, if you’re carrying regret, I want you to hear this loud and clear: It is not too late.

The enemy loves to tell us our time is up. That we’ve failed one too many times. That our kids will never recover from what they’ve seen. That we’re too damaged to be used by God.

But he is a liar.

Joel 2:25 says, “I will restore the years the locusts have eaten.” That means God can take all the wasted time, all the mess, all the losses—and bring life where there used to be ruins.

It doesn’t happen overnight. But it happens. God is patient with you. He’s gentle. He’s kind. And He’s not in a rush to fix you—He’s committed to restore you.

So if you’ve been hesitating to take that step because you think it’s too late, let this be your nudge: It’s not.

It’s never too late to be loved.
It’s never too late to heal.
It’s never too late to let God write a new ending.

Reflection:

  1. What part of your story feels like it’s beyond repair or restoration?
  2. What would change if you truly believed God could redeem your past?
  3. Is there a “next step” God is inviting you to take—no matter how small?

Prayer:
Father, I’ve carried shame and regret for too long. Sometimes it feels like I missed my chance—but I want to believe You’re still writing my story. Restore what I’ve lost. Heal what’s been broken. Give me faith to trust that You’re not finished with me—or my family. Thank You for Your grace and patience. I surrender my past, and I welcome Your future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
