Egging You On! Beating Life's Difficulties & Cracking on With Godਨਮੂਨਾ

Jesus - The Ultimate Good Egg
Ok, so the yolk Jesus speaks of has nothing to do with an egg! But this is such an important verse to live by. The yolk in biblical times referred to something that joined two animals together so the load they were carrying could be shared. This symbolises the way Jesus wants to carry the load of the things that weigh us down in life.
I wanted to end this plan by emphasising this truth, that Jesus wants to help to carry our burdens. We've looked at struggles like depression, fear and failure over the course of this devotional and it's important to remember that we don't have to go through any of this without the presence, help and love of Jesus. He wants to take the weight of sin and shame off all of our shoulders and give us rest, peace and joy in him.
There are so many times in my life when I worry about whether I'm a good egg or a bad egg, I see evidence of both states. But the bible says that I am 'robed in his righteousness' (Isaiah 61:10). I am a good egg because Jesus is the ultimate good egg, and my Father God looks at me and sees me as he sees Jesus. This is utterly mind-blowing - my head may egg'xplode it is such good news! I am so thankful for this reassurance that I am loved, forgiven, and safe in him - he paid it all so I could live free (range!). No need to continue in shame or fear, I can rest in his perfection. I don't have to hatch a plan to try and save myself - I can follow his plan, accepting his forgiveness, mercy, and love.
As we end this devotional, regardless of which egg you have most related to, I want to remind you that Jesus is en'oeuf'. A terrible pun, but a powerful truth. Jesus is enough - put all of your eggs in his basket and you will not be disappointed. His yoke is easy, his burden is light and he wants to give you rest for your soul. We have 'good egg' status because Jesus is the ultimate good egg and because of his sacrificial death, we can be 'robed in his righteousness'.
