DAY 17 OF 21

This is a short verse from a powerful story called “The Good Samaritan”. When Jesus tells the story of the good Samaritan, he’s talking to people who know the rules, the laws, and what’s expected of people who follow God. At least, they think they do. Jesus was teaching them that the person who truly finds eternal life and a relationship with God is the one who takes care of all of God’s children, regardless of what other people may say or think. The Samaritan in this story was a cultural outcast, yet Jesus made it clear that we should follow the Samaritans’ example of loving God and loving your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27, NIV). And who is the neighbor? It’s not just the person that lives next to you. When you choose to follow Jesus you have a responsibility to look out for and help the person that no one else may want to, like the Samaritan. Be on the lookout for opportunities to practice that today!
