Have you ever scrolled social media until hours passed? Or did you stay up all night watching YouTube videos or playing video games? Or eat an entire bag of candy in one sitting? You were free to do that, but if you’re honest with yourself, was it most helpful? Probably not! Christians think about our freedom in a different way. Just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should do something. True freedom isn’t about doing whatever we want; it’s about choosing what’s good for us. When we let anything—even something that seems harmless—take control of our time or attention, we’re giving up a little bit of the freedom we so desperately want.
So today, think of one habit that might be taking up more of your time or focus than it should. What’s one small step you can take toward gaining back your freedom?
