Stress Less: 9 Practices That Build Resilience God's Wayਨਮੂਨਾ

Broaden and Build
Stress narrows our focus, making us fixate on problems. But God’s Word encourages us to expand our perspective. By intentionally focusing on what is good and beautiful, we can break free from stress’s grip.
Psychologists call this the “broaden-and-build” effect. Positive emotions expand our thinking and open us to new possibilities. Gratitude, joy, and wonder can help us see beyond our current struggles and build resilience for the future.
Consider Paul’s words in Philippians 4:8. He challenges us to dwell on things that are true, noble, and praiseworthy. This is not about ignoring reality but about choosing to see God’s goodness in the midst of it.
Spend time today noticing beauty around you—in nature, relationships, or Scripture. Write down three things you’re grateful for. As you practice focusing on the positive, watch how it transforms your mindset and equips you to handle stress.
Expanding your focus also strengthens your relationship with God. Praise and worship are powerful tools for redirecting our attention to His greatness. Sing a favorite hymn or listen to worship music that lifts your spirit. As you broaden your perspective, trust that God is working in ways you may not yet see.
