Day 3: Finding Joy in Serving Others
Serving is not merely an action but an alignment of the heart, one that brings immense Joy. In Acts 20:35, the Apostle Paul quotes Jesus, emphasizing that there’s a greater blessing—greater Joy—in giving than in receiving. This may seem counterintuitive in a culture that often equates Joy with personal gain.
Yet, there’s a profound sense of fulfillment that comes from making a positive impact on someone else’s life. Whether it’s through a kind word, a generous act, or a helping hand, serving others allows us to step outside of our self-centered tendencies and engage with the world in a meaningful way.
The act of giving is not a passing emotion; it’s an act that produces a profound sense of contentment and affirms our alignment with God’s Will and Purpose for our lives.
What opportunities for service have you encountered recently?
How does serving others change your perspective of your own circumstances? What steps can you take to make serving others a regular part of your life?
Identify one opportunity to serve someone in your community this week. It could be a family member, a friend, a neighbor, or even a stranger. Do this act of service thoughtfully and reflect on how it makes you feel.
