Ashes to Amethyst: Unearthing the Jewel Withinਨਮੂਨਾ

In times of brokenness, it may be hard to remember that the Lord is near. He saves and restores those who turn to Him with a contrite heart. There are times when our brokenness is because of something we have done. Other times, it may be as a result of something someone has done to us. No matter what the cause, brokenness is recognized by God as a step closer to Him.

Our relationship with God can only be authentic when we remove pride and self-reliance. Pride tells you to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. Self-reliance is when we depend on our own answers, wisdom, and think of solving our own problems. That doesn't mean the Holy Spirit won't provide a solution when we pray. However, when a person is self-reliant and prideful, he or she won't even ask for assistance.

When you're tempted to hide from God rather than run to Him because you are experiencing the consequences of your or someone else's behavior, choose to draw near. No one can soothe the hurt better than God. As difficult as it may be to break down and admit how much it hurts, there is so much more to our relationship with God than blessings on blessings. The real test of our relationship is what happens when things are not going so well. When your back is against the wall, do you come out swinging and blaming God, or do you drop to your knees and release the burden of trying to have it all together. That is not the time to save face; that's the time to fall on your face.

God can and will heal the hurt in your heart if you come to Him without pretense and with a broken heart. Repent and get back on track. Then, you will see how faithful He is to those He calls His own.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, draw close to me in my moments of brokenness and restore my spirit. Help me to drop my guard and confess my hurt to You. I trust in Your healing power. Amen.
