The foreigner who became a part of the people of Israel
Throughout the Old Testament God reveals himself through his people Israel. Israel was called to be a different people, to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. But even though Israel was supposed to be different, they were also supposed to welcome the other nations which wanted to praise the Lord. Ruth is an example of just this.
Ruth was a Moabite but became a part of the Israelites because of her mother-in-law Naomi. And she didn’t just became a part of the nation, she became the great-grandmother of king David and thus a part of Jesus’ own lineage.
