Devotional: Today’s reading teaches us on subjects such as discernment, perseverance, diligence and dedication which are considered essentials in the life of a true believer. The parables Jesus shared speak of Him giving us the needed resources so we can do our job. The accent doesn’t fall on how many talents the servants received, but on how they managed them. It wasn’t about how much the virgins had to wait, but how they waited for the arrival of the groom. What do we do with our talents, intelligence, creativity or material resources? Do we spend them on those who need it? On the poor, the suffering or the lonely? Do we do it only so people can see us? Here’s the deal – what we can receive in exchange is far more valuable than anything we could offer – eternal life.
