Luke 12:15 warns us, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” So, as we reflect on our motivations for spending – are we seeking security, status, or satisfaction in material things, or are we finding our identity in Christ and His calling for our lives? Notice what Proverbs 22:9 highlights: “The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” Are we using our resources solely for personal gain, or are we also considering the needs of others? And then, in Galatians 6:7, Paul writes, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. The Samaritan used what he had to take care of a total stranger in need. On the other hand, the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-22), even though he had an abundance, had a tough time parting with his cash for the benefit of the less fortunate, just like Jesus suggested.
