Maybe God isn’t who you think He is. Maybe He’s much better. This devotional will help identify some Christian clichés we’ve all heard that are actually unbiblical lies. These clichés may seem innocent, but are harmful to our faith and keep far too many believers stuck in spiritual immaturity. Learn to encounter these lies with the truths about God in the Bible, to bring encouragement and freedom to our lives.

When Jesus died on the cross, His blood ran from the pillars of wood to the very depths of our spirits. We were finally reunified with God, who speaks to us through a universal language that directly translates to our situation — no matter who we are, no matter where we came from, and no matter what walls divide us. He bled out so all could come in!

Waarom zou ik in God geloven? Wat voegt een onzichtbaar, almachtig Opperwezen toe aan mijn leven? Krijg ik een succesvoller leven als ik in God geloof? Word ik er gelukkiger van? Heeft het leven meer zin als je in God gelooft?

Heb je je weleens afgevraagd waarom dat kruis zo’n belangrijke rol speelt voor christenen? Je kan er haast niet omheen als het om het christelijk geloof gaat: op en in kerkgebouwen, in communicatie-uitingen, schilderijen, sieraden, enzovoort: overal komt het kruis in beeld. Soms zelfs ook met beelden van Jezus aan dat kruis. Hoe zit dat nu eigenlijk?
