#JESUS2019 - Daily Devotionals

दिन 39 को 48

I used to have the best conversations with Jesus when I went jogging alone through the forest. God spoke to me. I had great thoughts! Unfortunately, this somehow no longer works today. I found this quite annoying!

Many people experience similar things. As a consequence, people then say: “My faith has dried up, I have lost my faith.” Perhaps you have had a similar experience?

Now the devil can attack your connection to the vine in the same way as termites eat a tree - from the inside. He gnaws at your thoughts from inside like this: “Well, your connection to Jesus - it has been better in the past, hasn’t it? Even though you are trying so hard to make it better! You have had enough, haven’t you? By the way, who is really your friend? Nobody really loves you, do they? It certainly doesn’t look good…”

And he wants to distract and redirect your thoughts.

Away from Jesus, towards your problems and worries.

Your most valuable weapon against worries, feelings of inferiority and unfruitfulness weighs more than a kilogram and it is between your ears.

The termite, the devil, is not the ruler of your thoughts. You are!

Think about things you think about.

Could it simply be that the ways and means you used to approach Jesus no longer work today?

Spiritual growth has a lot to do with finding and exploring new paths to Jesus. For each new phase in my life I want to search for and find something that makes my relationship with Jesus more intimate, surprises me and at the same time helps me become closer to Jesus. I want to discover and experience things I can’t yet imagine today.

I have discovered something completely new: I lie down on the sofa and write down questions and God’s answers to them on my laptop with my eyes closed. The spelling doesn’t matter, however, I take each thought seriously. This really is such an intense conversation!

There are unlimited possibilities during the day. Whether through music, out in nature, in fellowship with others, reading, in silence, fasting, doing Bible studies, helping others...

ACTION STEP:

What approach to Jesus would you like to try anew today?
