Fusaichi Pegasus’ was the most expensive race horse ever sold in the world. Believe it or not, he was sold for 64 million dollars. A huge amount of money for one horse.

Only the very best horses make it into a famous racing stable. Scouts travel the world to find the best horses in the world. Horses that miss the mark and are too slow are kicked out, and it’s only the best of the best that make the cut in the racing stable.

When you walk out of your house today, you will more or less be doing something similar. You may not be looking for talented race horses, but just like the stable owner who ignores the untalented horses, we tend to walk past people that we don’t know, don’t like or who don’t fit in. We just don’t care.

In this context, when Jesus talks about sheep, he means people. Because he doesn’t only care about the people that already follow him – he cares about everyone. No matter where you come from, no matter what you look like or what your past has been like, Jesus has a spot open for you in his flock. There is nothing Jesus wants more than to be in a relationship with you! His flock isn’t some exclusive club for a few elite sheep. No, his flock is for everyone.

How do you see the people around you? Even those who are difficult. Jesus does not only go after the stars / hotshots: the people who always excel, look great and who get on with everyone. He sees the gold that he has placed in every one of us.

ACTION STEPS:

  1. Whenever you have a conversation with a ‘difficult’ person this week, stop and pray that God will make you see them as he sees them.
  2. Are you bringing in any ‘lost sheep’? In which environment has God placed you, and do you make a positive difference there? If not, how could you change that?
