When I think of a door, I see an old, creaky, wooden door that will hardly open! Despite this, you want to open it and see what’s hiding behind it. A door always connects two rooms with each other.

Easter is the holiday that celebrates the biggest miracle of all time. God is pure love and we are called by him to love God and all people. But we simply can’t manage to do this! We mess up every day by not loving others. And every time we don’t love, more death enters this world. 

And this is how we fill up our room.

And what does God do with this chaotic room? He shows us the door to another room. He reveals what it truly means to love. It is not just that his Son died on the cross in our place, even though we brought death into the world ourselves: all of the junk we continue to accumulate is taken into death by Jesus. 

But that is not the end! Jesus conquered death. After three days he rose from the dead. Through his resurrection something new is possible: you can now enter that new room and have fellowship with God. 

You don’t need to feel bad or alone anymore. You don’t need to be ashamed of yourself or others. You don’t need to be afraid. Now it is possible to leave that old room and you can also leave all your junk behind on every new day.

You can now enter into a beautiful room filled with power, love, acceptance, forgiveness and hope of a life in your deepest calling: LOVE.

What do you need to do now? Open the creaky door and walk through it. Say YES to this God, who moved heaven and earth in order to love you and welcome you into your new room.

ACTION STEPS: 

1) Have you already walked through the door? If not, do it today and pray this prayer out loud:

“God, I stand before you. Forgive me for those times I did not love others. I can’t do it alone. From now on, I want to live my life with you. Thank you for giving your son for me. I’m not alone anymore. Thank you for being the door to a new life, full of love and freedom. Holy Spirit, fill me with your presence and your gifts. Come into my life and show me what you have waiting for me in this new room. Amen.”

2) Have you already walked through the door, but realize that you’ve left certain areas of your life behind in that old room?

Pray the following prayer (maybe do this with one of your leaders or friend): 

“Jesus, I give you (person, area of life, things that separate you from God, etc.) and ask you for forgiveness. Thank you that fear, shame, and sin have no more power over my life. Holy Spirit, fill me anew in this area and teach me to follow you. Amen.”
