## God Is Always Moving When we are going through a season of sorrow or disappointment, the first biblical truth we need to understand is that God is always present in the darkness. Scripture does not stop there; the creation story says that the Spirit of God was moving in the darkness over the waters of the earth. The second biblical truth that we can stand on is that God is always moving. When God moves, He creates. This means that God is always moving and creating life in our circumstances. The Spirit of the Lord is not static. Even if we are not aware of it, God is always on the move. He also created everything to move. Look at the universe: all creation is in a constant movement. This reflects the character of God. We need to know that even when we are waiting in a season of sorrow, God is moving. He is working on our behalf, for our good. The Bible is full of narratives that teach us that God is moving even when His children are not aware of it. One of the greatest stories of God moving on an individual’s behalf, even when everything seemed hopeless, is the biblical account of the life of Joseph. Joseph was one of the 12 sons of Jacob. He was so loved by his father that his brothers hated him out of jealousy. To hurt him, they sold him into Egyptian slavery. As a slave in Egypt, Joseph experienced all kinds of difficulties. He eventually went to prison for years, accused of a crime he did not commit. However, God was moving on Joseph’s behalf throughout his story. Joseph ended up becoming a ruler in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. Joseph experienced great prosperity and success; moreover, he was able to save his entire family from famine. At the end of his life, Joseph told his brothers that God used what they meant for evil to bring about good. Believers have the promise of Scripture that Joseph proved true with his life. The Bible tells us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. Sometimes we see God working in our lives; at other times, we do not. That does not mean that God stops working. He never does. We can rest on the biblical promise that even when we wait on the Lord, He renews our strength. While we are waiting, God is working.
