The theology of “it” is based on a principle God established in creation: > “The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:12). Here’s how the principle works - all the plants and trees that God created had a seed built into them for their future growth so they could reproduce “after their kind,” which is very important. That is, you can’t plant a pear seed and get watermelons. So whatever it is that you plant, that is what you will receive back—after its own kind. The way God created life to work is that what you wanted or needed to get, you had to give first in the form of the seed you planted. You would have to take the seed from what you had in order to replicate it. What was a principle of creation, Jesus broadened into a principle of life in Luke 6:38, > “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure – pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” The thing you give, whatever “it” is, is the thing you get back because God responds to your faith in giving whatever it is that you also need. To put it another way, if you have a need, make sure you sow a seed in the lives of others in the same area as your own personal need.
