Gratitude is a powerful spiritual discipline that significantly increases your effectiveness and fruitfulness in life and ministry. Psalm 103:1-2 reminds us, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” A grateful heart continually recognises and appreciates God's goodness, maintaining an attitude of thanksgiving even in challenging circumstances.

I always remind believers that gratitude is not a feeling; it is a conscious choice. Paul instructed clearly, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Notice, he did not say give thanks for everything, but in everything. Gratitude helps you maintain spiritual perspective and protects your heart from bitterness and discouragement.

Effective people consistently cultivate gratitude, consciously choosing to thank God in all circumstances. Gratitude aligns your perspective with God’s goodness, strengthens your faith, and enhances your spiritual stamina. Without it, even minor setbacks can seem overwhelming and cause unnecessary discouragement.
