KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BUSYNESS AND PRODUCTIVITY

There is a crucial difference between being busy and being productive. Martha was remarkably busy preparing a meal for Jesus, yet Jesus gently corrected her, “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful…” (Luke 10:41-42). Martha’s busyness, though well-intentioned, distracted her from true productivity and effectiveness.

Do not forget the principle that productivity is about doing the right things, not just doing many things. Busy believers often find themselves overwhelmed by activities but produce little lasting spiritual impact. Effective people, however, carefully select their activities, aligning them with clear, God-given priorities.

I often tell people to evaluate their lives by the value of their activities, not merely their number. Ephesians 5:15-16 urges, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Effective believers redeem the time by prioritising tasks that align directly with God’s purpose, not just filling their schedules with random busyness.

Today, honestly examine your current activities. Are you merely busy or genuinely productive? Adjust your priorities to reflect activities of eternal significance. When you align your schedule with God’s priorities, your life becomes more impactful and fulfilling.

THOUGHT TO PONDER:

Are your daily activities busy or truly productive? How can you adjust your schedule today to align more intentionally with God’s priorities?

PRAYER:

Lord, help me discern between busyness and true productivity. Guide my daily decisions to reflect Your priorities and eternal purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
