Lesson Two: Who is the Holy Spirit?

I. What does the Holy Spirit do according to the following passages?

• Romans 8:14 - Lead us as sons of God
• Acts 8:29 - Guide to ministry
• Acts 8:39 - Carrier of God's word
• Acts 13:2 - Sets us apart
• Acts 13:4 - Sends us off for the ministry

II. What may people do to the Holy Spirit? 

• Acts 7:51 - Resist the Holy Spirit
• Acts 10:19-21 - Listen and obey
• Matthew 12:31 - Convict of sin
• Acts 5:3 - Lie to the Holy Spirit
• Ephesians 4:30 - Grieve the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has will, emotions and intellect. The Holy Spirit is a person.

     

III. How do the following passages show that the Holy Spirit is God?      

• 1 Corinthians 2:11 - Comprehends the thoughts of God
• Acts 5:3-4 - All-knowing
• Psalm 139:7 - All-present
• Romans 8:11 - Spirit of Christ
• Isaiah 6:8-13 - voice of the Lord
• Acts 28:25-27  - sending and affirming God's call

Conclusion:  The Holy Spirit is a person, and He is also God. He is the third person of the Triune God.
