May 22 – The Role of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the divine guide in understanding Scripture. Though the Word is written, its true meaning is revealed by the Spirit who inspired it. He illuminates the mind of the believer, bringing clarity and insight into the truth of God’s Word.

This matters because the Scripture is spiritual in nature. It cannot be fully understood by intellect alone. The Holy Spirit bridges the gap between written words and spiritual understanding, making truth clear and applicable.

When the role of the Holy Spirit is ignored, interpretation becomes purely intellectual. This leads to shallow understanding, misinterpretation, and sometimes pride in knowledge without truth. Without the Spirit, Scriptures can be read but not rightly understood.

DAILY EXERCISE
Before reading the Scriptures today, consciously ask the Holy Spirit for understanding.
Write down what becomes clearer to you.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help me to depend on Him for understanding Your Word. I pray for believers, students, families, and leaders across Nigeria that they will be guided by the Spirit into truth. Lord, we ask that across nations, the Spirit of truth will lead people into accurate understanding. Strengthen the Church worldwide through the revelation of Your Word.
