Main Idea: Decision Point

Most of us have felt this brokenness in one way or another. Maybe you’ve felt like you can never undo the wrong things you have done. Maybe you’ve sensed that you are far from God and can’t be right with Him on your own. Or maybe you’ve just noticed that your sinful lifestyle is damaging to you. The truth is, the only way out of this is to come to Jesus. If you’ve never really told Jesus you trust Him and want His forgiveness, you can do that right now. You don’t need fancy words, just be honest with Him.

For those who do follow Him, maybe some of us need to be reminded of this. Maybe you’ve stopped caring about obeying God, or you’ve walked further from Him than you should, or you’ve started to get back into some bad, sinful habits. Or maybe you’ve become prideful, thinking you’re great because of you instead of the grace of God. Jesus is just as for you today as He was when He saved you, and just as able to restore you to where you should be in your walk with God. Why not do a spiritual heart check and see if there’s anywhere you need to be restored today?

Trusting Jesus isn’t just about getting a clean slate; it’s about getting a new identity.

You’re no longer defined by your sin, mistakes, or past. You’re defined by being loved and chosen by God.

When you trust Jesus, you’re not just forgiven, you’re made new. You don’t have to stay stuck in guilt, shame, or emptiness. You get to live out your new identity as God’s child, restored and loved.

Reflection Questions:

• How does it change your perspective to know that trusting Jesus gives you a new identity, not just a clean slate?
• Which parts of your old identity are hardest for you to let go of?
• Where have you personally felt the weight of brokenness, whether through guilt, distance from God, or habits that are hurting you?
• What do those feelings reveal about your need for Jesus?
• If you already follow Jesus, are there areas of your life where you’ve drifted, maybe stopped caring about obedience, grown prideful, or slipped back into old habits?
• What might a “spiritual heart check” look like for you today?
