Identityಮಾದರಿ

Main Idea: Broken & Restored Internally
When the Bible says we become a “new creation,” it’s describing a whole new identity, who we are at the deepest level.
Think back to that third analogy of having everything: house, car, friends, clothes, but throwing it all away for a drug that promises a high but leaves you empty. That’s what sin does to us. It doesn’t just leave us on the wrong side of the law or at odds with God; it also destroys us.
There is a famous saying, “To err is human, to forgive is divine.”
We often imagine that to get things wrong is simply part of what it means to be a human being. But, even though we all sin, that’s actually incorrect. The truth is that we were never made to be sinful. Adam and Eve were made good and designed to live without sin. However, when they did sin, they damaged not only themselves, but also all of mankind for the rest of time. Sin, though very normal to us, is almost like a genetic defect, passed on to all humanity. It is not how we were made, and it is rather a sign of our broken state.
This is also true of our own sins. Though sins of all different kinds can make us feel better in the moment, or even solve some short-term problems (you can get out of trouble by lying, or out of debt by stealing), the truth is that sin always damages us on the inside.
Sin is also addictive. Any sinful habit you develop never satisfies forever. It will always take you further than you want to go, cost you more than you want to pay, and keep you longer than you want to stay.
But because of Jesus, we don’t have to stay trapped in sin anymore. The Bible says that “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” This means that when someone starts following Jesus, He makes them new on the inside. We’ll still wrestle with what the Bible calls our ‘sinful nature,’ but deep down, God’s already making us new. He helps us say “no” to sin and experience the joy and peace we were made for. It all begins when you say “yes” to Jesus, asking Him to forgive you and lead your life. When you do, He changes you from the inside out.
Jesus came to fix everything sin broke. He died to take your punishment, rose again to give you new life, and wants to forgive and change anyone who trusts Him.
Reflection Questions:
- Can you identify any sinful habits or choices that have felt “addictive” in your life, things that promised relief or happiness but ultimately hurt you?
- What might it look like to bring those areas to Jesus?
- In what ways have you experienced sin promising something good but leaving you empty or disappointed?
- How does that connect to the analogy of throwing everything away for something that can’t satisfy?
