Saved for Life in the Kingdom

Many people, when hearing the word “salvation”, first think about escaping hell or about personal salvation. But in the Gospel of the Kingdom, salvation has a deeper sense. To be saved means being freed of the power of sin, death, and evil and being brought under the new authority of Jesus Christ to live in His Kingdom. It’s not only about what we are saved from, but also about what we’re saved for.

There are four dimensions in God’s plan of salvation.

First is restoring the relationships – we’re reconciled to God and can once again call Him our Father.

Second is restoring the personality – God restores our identity, changing our character, heart, and way of thinking.

Third is restoring the community – we become part of God’s family, learning to love, serve, and forgive.

And finally, restoring the world – we’re called to bring God’s justice, care, and healing to creation.

So, to build up God’s Kingdom means living not so much with a “saved from” mindset but with a “saved for” mindset. Not only does Jesus deliver us, but He also invites us to collaborate – to join His mission of restoring all that has been ruined by sin.

When Christ becomes the King of our hearts, we no longer live motivated by “must” but encouraged by “can.” We are free to do good because God’s Spirit works in and through us.

Building up the Kingdom means living in this new reality of salvation, where our entire life becomes a response to the love of the King. We’re no longer running away from the darkness but bringing in the light. Nor do we avoid the world but restore it with God’s presence.

Questions to ask yourself:

• What does being “saved” mean to me in the light of the Kingdom?
• Which of the four dimensions of salvation right now needs accretion in my life?
• In what way can my salvation be a blessing to other people?

Prayer:

Jesus, I thank You for setting me free from the power of sin and inviting me to the life of Your Kingdom. Please, teach me to live as saved not only “from” but also “for” – for love, ministry, and restoring the world around me.
