Day 1: Christ Jesus is Lord

Every year, I feel a deep excitement as we enter the season where we celebrate the coming of Christ. This is a time of wonder and gratitude — a time to remember the greatest gift ever given. I want to invite you into Psalm 16, a passage that echoes beautifully in the Gospel of John. Over the next few days, we’ll explore how David’s words point forward to the life and work of Jesus.

David begins with a profound confession:

“You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.” Psalm 16:2 NIV

It’s a personal declaration — a statement of belonging and surrender. Many of us call Jesus our Saviour, and rightly so. Salvation is the first and greatest gift He brought to this world — the peace that reaches into eternity.

But there’s another step — one that transforms our daily lives. We must also declare, “You are my Lord.” The word Lord speaks of ownership, honour, and authority. It means we recognise that everything we are and everything we have belongs to Him. Even the challenges we face become tools in the hands of our loving Master.

When Jesus is not only your Saviour but your Lord, life gains a new rhythm — one of trust, gratitude, and purpose. Salvation gives us peace for eternity, but His lordship gives us abundance in this life.

Listen to His promise in John 10:10 (NIV):

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

And again in John 10:28 (NIV):

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand.”

One promise secures our eternity; the other fills our present with life and joy.

As we celebrate Christ this season, I want to invite you to make a simple yet powerful decision:
Surrender the first moments of your life to Jesus.

• The first moment of your day — fill your daily focuses with His presence.
• The first day of your week — honour Him with your weekly priorities.
• The first day of each new season — yield your plans, desires, and thoughts to His lordship.

Declare with David, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.”
It’s a daily, active decision — to find goodness only in the places where Christ is present.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, You are not only my Saviour but my Lord.
I surrender my heart, my plans, and my seasons to You.
Teach me to find my joy and goodness in You alone.
Lead me with Your wisdom, fill me with Your peace,
and guide me into the abundance of Your life.
Amen.
