Learning You: The Love That Staysಮಾದರಿ

Late in Learning You, there’s a heartbreaking scene when Elijah breaks down and cries, “I’m bad garbage.” Ty kneels beside him and whispers, “No… I’m still learning you.”
That moment captures the heart of the gospel. Because that’s exactly what God says to us.
God doesn’t see our failures and call us worthless. He sees our confusion, our shame, our struggle—and says, “I’m still learning you.” Of course, He already knows everything about us.
But “learning you” means He’s choosing relationship over record-keeping. It means He’s staying engaged even when we’re at our lowest.
Religion says, “Clean up, then come close.”
Grace says, “Come close, and I’ll help you clean up.”
When we understand that kind of love, we stop hiding. We stop pretending to have it all together and finally let God into the messiest parts of our hearts. Because perfect love doesn’t flinch at imperfection—it leans in.
Maybe today you need to hear God whisper, “I’m still learning you.” He’s not done shaping you, forgiving you, or walking with you. You are still His masterpiece in progress.
Reflect:
What part of your story are you still hiding from God’s love?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me while I’m still in process.
Teach me to rest in the truth that I am fully known and fully loved—no more hiding, no more shame.
Amen.
