Walk in the Narrowsಮಾದರಿ

It is a tale soon told
Growing up, I was convinced I wasn’t really ageing; I remember aged 16 being at my mate Tom’s house, lifting weights, listening to music, and playing Road Rash 2 on the Sega Mega Drive. I thought I was immortal; I was in my prime, and no thought or feeling about how fast life passes was even a consideration.
It took me a long time, even into my late 20’s and early 30s, to shake that sense of my immortality. My mates were losing their hair, but I wasn’t, they went grey, but I didn’t. Could I somehow be outside the ageing process? Was I truly immortal in a physical sense as I had thought years ago?
Well, fast forward 30 years from that night of lifting weights and gaming, and here I am.
With all the normal things going on that a man my age must start to embrace as I look down the barrel of closing in on 50 years old.
Now, let me just make this clear, this study is not aimed at warning you about ageing so much as it is trying to stir your heart to see where and how you spend the strength of your youth.
When I was 20 years old, the Holy Spirit whispered into my life, and I am so grateful he did, and that I was able to discern and know his voice. That moment, that evening, changed my life and the man I went on to be, almost three decades later, I am shaped by that encounter. These are things we will go on to explore in this study, how you can hear his voice and make space in your life for that whisper and guidance.
The moments of opportunity to turn your heart to God in your youth are incredible. I interviewed a man recently who spent the years of his youth chasing his goals, his passion, and priority. For him, it was football. Playing, then watching, then fighting more than watching. He turned his heart full to the Lord in his later years, and a deep regret over those youthful years sat with him.
This is the sentiment and weight behind the bible reading with this study. To "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth" (Ecclesiastes 12:1 NIV). You are made, crafted and forged. Brought to life not by chance but by design, in the image of a creator God who has a purpose and plan for his created being, you.
So, in being created, our ownership is not unknown. God lays claim to his design, to his man. Turn, not away from him, but toward him, especially in youth, where the opportunities and potential work that is ahead can be grasped, enjoyed and released.
We have gone before you, our advice is that you do all you can to "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth" (Ecclesiastes 12:1 NIV).
We have no handle on what tomorrow holds, there’s not a ledge or handhold where we can gain purchase to climb in this life and see what is ahead of us. We may not even see that next day dawn—the future offers us no security, guarantee, or promise.
The present, now, today, as C.S. Lewis once wrote, is "lit with eternal rays".
Your life will be a tale soon told, so turn your life in the direction of Jesus every day. Align yourself with and in the bible, and you will be in awe and wonder at what the Holy Spirit brings to your life today.
