Pride and Self Esteemಮಾದರಿ

Pride and Self-Esteem in Christ - Day 1
Many times, we confuse humility with pride and self-esteem with vanity. Some think humility means putting themselves down, saying things like ‘I’m nothing’ or ‘I don’t matter‘, but in truth, they are denying the work of Christ on the cross. True humility is not about thinking less of yourself, but about seeing yourself rightly in Jesus. This topic is essential for our spiritual life because it shapes how we live and represent Christ in the world.
Question and Answer
What is the difference between pride and healthy self-esteem in Christ?
Pride is rooted in what we do or achieve, while healthy self-esteem is grounded in what Jesus has done for us. When we understand our identity in Christ, we walk in true humility and represent Him well.
Reflection
The Bible says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV). This means we are not just forgiven sinners, but new creations in Christ. Our identity does not depend on what we accomplish, but on the finished work of Jesus.
Often, we live according to our perceived identity rather than our true identity. If we believe we are insignificant, we will act that way. However, when we recognize that we are God’s children, our actions reflect that truth.
Ask yourself: In what areas of my life am I still living out of a distorted identity?
Response/Application
Self-esteem rooted in Christ protects us from pride and grounds us in true humility. Recognizing that we are loved, redeemed, and made new in Him transforms the way we relate to others and how we bear witness to Him. Today, you are invited to see yourself as God sees you.
Seek this truth daily through prayer, reading the Word, and walking with the Holy Spirit. In doing so, your life will reflect Jesus faithfully to the world.
Suggested Action
- Read and meditate on 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20, and John 15:5.
- Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal your true identity in Christ.
- Share with someone what it means to have your self-esteem grounded in Jesus.
