Counting the cost

'“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.' (Matthew 7:24, NIV)

Consider what God has revealed to you in the last few days.

• You’ve looked at your past rhythm of holiday celebrations.
• You have considered Jesus’ loving question, “What do you want me to do for you?”
• You have looked at what might bring greater meaning to your Advent season.

Your reflection may prompt you to consider making some changes, and those changes may come at a cost. The cost may be streamlining some holiday activities or rearranging your holiday schedule. Change can bring pushback: 'We’ve never done it that way.'

God may be calling you to a new way of reflecting on Advent. The cost may affect your personal need for change, and you may also be concerned about how it will affect others.

What is God asking of you? Who will it affect? What is the cost?

Prayer: Lord, let me rest with what has been revealed to me today. Amen.
