Serving Others Humbly

Mark 10:45 - "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (ESV)

Jesus had all power, authority, and glory, yet He chose to serve. That should stop us in our tracks. The One who spoke creation into being wrapped a towel around His waist and washed His feet. He fed the hungry, listened to the hurting, and laid down His life.

If Jesus served, how much more should we?

Humble service isn't glamorous and often goes unnoticed. It means showing up early, staying late, and doing the task no one wants. It means putting someone else's needs above yours when it costs you comfort, convenience, or recognition.

Serving others humbly reveals what's in your heart. Are you willing to serve when no one's watching? Can you do it without needing a thank you? Can you serve the difficult person, the undeserving, the ungrateful? Jesus did.

This kind of service transforms you. It reshapes your character and renews your purpose. It reminds you that greatness in God's kingdom looks different. It isn't measured by status—it's measured by sacrifice.

Look around today. There are opportunities everywhere to serve: at home, at work, in your church, in your neighborhood. Ask God to show you where and how. Then take action.

Serving others doesn't make you less of a man. It makes you more like Christ.

Choose one act of service you can do today without recognition. Do it quietly, with joy, as an offering to God.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for serving me first. Help me to live with a servant's heart. Show me how to serve humbly and faithfully, just like You. Amen.
