Breaking Barriers Like Jesusಮಾದರಿ

Self-inviting encounter with ‘a sinner’!
Paying taxes can be a sensitive topic, as it directly affects our finances. The imposition of additional taxes can be particularly burdensome
In the context of Jesus' time, tax collectors were viewed unfavorably due to their role in collecting taxes for the Roman government, often at the expense of their fellow Jews. This historical context highlights the significance of Jesus' interaction with Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, and his message of redemption and forgiveness.
Jesus' encounter with Zacchaeus showcases his radical approach to outreach. Despite societal barriers, Jesus:
- Saw Zacchaeus' genuine desire
- Reached out personally, calling him by name
- Broke social norms by dining with a "sinner"
This encounter transformed Zacchaeus, leading to confession and restitution. Jesus' willingness to challenge traditional thinking and engage with those on the margins continues to inspire personal transformation. Jesus sees people beyond societal categories.
Reflect:
1. Do I judge others based on their lifestyle or profession?
2. How can I show love and acceptance to those marginalized or ostracized?
3. Am I hindering others from experiencing Jesus' transformative power?
Prayer: Lord, I have been judgmental of people, and instead of being a hope and help, I have become a stumbling block. Forgive me for my self-righteous attitude and not taking steps to break the barriers. Help me to lead people to you for a life-changing experience. Amen
