The Power of Friendship

There's nothing like a good friend. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." The right friend will sharpen your character and help you to become who you've been called to be.

Jonathan was the heir to Saul’s throne, yet when he saw David, his soul was “knit” to him. Instead of competing with David’s calling, Jonathan championed it. He stripped off his robe, a symbol of his own kingship, and gave it to David. It’s a powerful picture of real friendship that we'll get to visualize in this season of House of David.

Covenant friendship is radical. It means not being threatened by someone else’s anointing, talent, or calling but being invested in it. It means your friend’s wins are not your losses, but actually God’s glory on display.

In a world starved for connection, everyone needs friends who don’t just celebrate your highs but carry you through your lows. Jonathan shows us that true friendship doesn’t compete with God’s plan for you; it covers and confirms it.

In a culture built on comparison, covenant friendship is a countercultural witness. Find you some good friends who can invest in what God has placed inside you.
