Dear Church, Truth in Loveಮಾದರಿ

Day 5: Dear Church, Rest Is Protest (and Worship)
Here’s something freeing: salvation isn’t on us. Paul said, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
In the same way, reconciliation is God’s work. We are called to be faithful witnesses, but He is the one who changes and transforms hearts.
That means we can rest—which might be the most difficult part of this entire conversation. Rest is not laziness; it’s trust. It’s a protest against a culture that glorifies striving, arguing, and always being right. It’s worship when we resist the urge to add our own anger and instead choose stillness. As Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
When our efforts toward reconciliation are received, we give God glory. When they’re resisted, we intercede and trust Him. Either way, if you and I are going to change the course of the culture, our role is obedience—and God’s role is transformation. Understanding and living this is how we promote truth in love.
Prayer:
Lord, You are high and lifted up, yet You are near to the brokenhearted. Thank You for calling me into Your ministry of reconciliation of Your people. Teach me when to work and when to rest. Unite Your Church as a radiant, blameless bride. Amen.

In every generation, the Church has faced defining challenges. Today, one of the most urgent is diversity and reconciliation—how we see one another, how we work together, and how we live as the body of Christ in a politically-charged and divided world. Dear Church offers five days of encouragement for leaders, written in the spirit of Paul’s letters: direct, heartfelt, and timely. Through truth-telling, courage, hard work, and rest, this plan invites you to reflect and act so the Church can reflect the unity of heaven here on earth.
