30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

30 ನ 20 ದಿನ

Holy Spirit, help us resist anything that threatens our unity.

Do you know what threatens the unity in our marriage more than anything in this season we are in? Our children’s extracurriculars. We both bring such different perspectives on parenting because of our own past experiences. He didn’t grow up living and breathing sports and I did. I was college bound to play fastpitch softball from the time I got my first hand me down glove at 7 years old. My parents sacrificed so much to watch me grow in the sport and pursue the big dreams I had and I loved every minute of it.

Micah’s parents were much different, and sports just weren’t a huge part of the equation. So now, when my 13 year old little athlete wants to join a travel team and hit hotels every other weekend…I’m all for it. My husband is not. When my boys decide there’s another sport they want to try, I’m willing to move heaven and earth to give them that experience…my husband is not. And here’s the hard truth: when I let the blessing of our children’s dreams and aspirations become the priority over our marriage relationship, it creates division between us almost instantly.

Maybe for you, it’s not sports. Maybe it’s extended family, in-laws, work schedules, friendships, or even addiction. But whatever it is, I want to encourage you with this reminder from Ephesians 4:27 (NIV): “Do not give the devil a foothold.” You and your spouse are one and anything, even good things like your kids’ extracurriculars or a long-awaited promotion, that begins to divide you needs to be brought before the Lord in prayer.

Today's Prayer:

Lord reveal to us any footholds that we’ve allowed in our marriage. Protect us from the enemy. Help us pursue unity. Align our hearts so that we can experience unity and protect us from division in our marriage.

30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
