Matthew's Journey: 'Mercy Mends' (Part 2)ಮಾದರಿ

Confession Brings Freedom
Confession, admitting to a fault within yourself, can feel scary. Have you ever really told someone a truth about yourself that you’d rather, if not desperately, keep to yourself? Rightfully we fear judgment, rejection, or merely the weight of admitting we’ve messed up! But in God’s kingdom, confession isn’t about punishment—it’s, on the contrary, all about freedom.
Matthew’s story in The Chosen (Season 3, Episode 2) highlights this beautifully—this process of true confession that transforms into total forgiveness and ultimate renewal. After following Jesus, Matthew knows he must face his past. Burdened, he seeks out his parents, the very people he had hurt by becoming a tax collector, and humbly apologizes. It’s an emotional moment of honesty and vulnerability. But here’s what makes it even more beautiful: his father, Alphaeus, also apologizes. Forgiveness begins to restore their relationship to newness of life.
1 John 1:9 tells us that when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us. He doesn’t hold our past against us. Instead, He washes us clean. Is there something in your life that you’ve been afraid to bring before God? Or perhaps a conversation you’ve been avoiding with someone you've hurt? Confession isn’t just about admitting fault—it’s about opening the door to healing. Try it, you have Matthew in whose footsteps you get to follow.
