Leaving Jericho, Jesus encounters a blind man begging by the roadside. Hearing that it is Jesus, the blind man cries out. The people rebuke him, but he remains relentless. In response, Jesus proceeds to ask one of the most redundant questions in scripture. “What do you want of me?” Mark 10:51. No assumption, no presumption, but Jesus enters into the story of a man – blind, cast aside, a beggar. All Bartimaeus wanted was his sight, what Jesus gave him was so much more – dignity, place, a record in history – Jesus allows him to be SEEN.
