Bible Verse 18
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

Why Is This Verse Famous?
This passage is known as “the Great Commission.” It’s Jesus’ final instruction to His followers after His resurrection and before He returned to heaven.

A Short Explanation of the Verse
This verse comes at the close of Jesus’ life on earth. He’d lived, loved, healed, and brought hope, but now it was time to go back to heaven. But His mission to save the world wasn’t over. Yes, He’d made a way for anyone to find new life in Him, but only a few people had heard the good news.

So Jesus gave His followers a mission: Go and tell people the good news that death, evil, pain, and heartbreak don’t have the final say. Redemption is possible. And a better way of life is open to all who choose to embrace it.

This is the same mission that Jesus followers still have today—to continue telling the story of Jesus and to show the world what it looks like to live and love like Him. And, like the first disciples, we carry Jesus’ promise—“I am with you always”—every step of the way.

What Could This Verse Mean for You?
Faith isn’t private for Christians; our purpose involves telling the story of Jesus to the people in our lives.
