The Power of Words

By speaking the world into being, God demonstrated the power of words from the very beginning. His words gave life where there was none. We are made in His image, and our words have power, too. Like sweet honey, kind and gracious words have an uplifting effect on the hearts and minds of those who hear them. Gracious, thoughtful and constructive words are sweet to the hearer and honouring to God. Harsh and destructive words have the opposite effect. As we go about our daily lives, may our words be life-giving and tempered with wisdom and love.

Prayer: God of grace, I pray that you would guide my thoughts and words. Lord, help me speak with kindness and love. Let my words bring glory to you and life to the hearts of those who hear me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
