Jesus Is…Emmanuel

Day 4 - Jesus is…Immanuel.

Matthew 1:18-24 (ESV)

Devotional: Thousands of years of anticipation awaited His coming—prophecies of old foretold of the coming king. And now, the king has finally come. He arrives in full splendor, with thousands of angels singing His praise, yet lying in a manger. It is Jesus at His birth, fully embracing His role as the Son of God, God Himself, with angels singing to Him, and fully human, lying in a manger wrapped in flesh. That is why we call Him Emmanuel, meaning 'God with us.' It shows that Jesus, moved by mercy, left the heights of heaven to be with His creation, designed to reflect His glory. In all other systems, man goes to God, but only in Christianity does God come to man. Jesus has met us right where we are. Any trial we face, He has seen and endured first. He is removing everything that stands in His way to us. For some of us, the very obstacle we think separates us from God might be the one that brings us closer to Him. As we finish this week, let us reflect on who Jesus is: fully God, above all and in all; fully man, flesh, and blood, able to feel pain, timeless, the Alpha and the Omega, and a sovereign God. Sit in this reality: the God just described here desires a relationship with you!

Prayer: Jesus, you are Immanuel! You are a God who is with us! Keep drawing me closer to You as I seek You this week. Remove obstacles in my life that prevent me from coming closer to You.

Call to Action: Please join us as we study who Jesus is by continuing to our next plan: Jesus is… A Minister.
