Day 2 - Jesus is…Fully Man.

Mark 6:3 (ESV) - Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Jude, and Simon?These were the questions on everyone's mind!

Devotional: While Jesus was truly God, he was also truly man. One of the most beautiful truths in all of Scripture is that God was willing to become man. He put on flesh and blood, stepping into our world because of the love He has for it. He experienced physical pain, such as taking a criminal's death on the cross. But he also experienced emotional pain. He knows the feeling of rejection. He knows what it is like to weep for friends. He knows what it is like to be rejected by the very people who say they know and love you. Not only was Jesus human, but he was the most human being that has ever walked the Earth. He reflected all glory to the Father and took great pleasure in doing so. The way Jesus lived teaches us how to be more human. How to embrace our status as image bearers of God. Jesus models that, despite the pain and rejection that come from being human in this world, we can still live with the joy of knowing God and loving Him. Living for something other than self is a countercultural approach to what it means to be human. What is mine is mine, and survival of the fittest is the cry of the world. But Jesus offers a better way that lets us embrace who God has called us to be—the true way to be human.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for Your time in the world. Teach me to walk as You walked. Teach me how to be an image bearer of You. Thank you for the gift of being in Your Image!
