The Top 5 Things God Calls You to Steward — and Why Money Comes Lastಮಾದರಿ

#1. The Gospel
Most Christians don’t think of the gospel as something to steward. We think of it as something to believe, receive, or share – but not something we’re responsible for managing.
But check what Scripture teaches.
“This is how one should regard us: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” – 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 ESV
The “mysteries” here refer to the gospel – the truth of salvation in Christ that was once hidden and is now revealed. And Paul doesn’t say we’re just messengers or beneficiaries. He says we’re stewards. That means God has entrusted this good news to us. Not to hide it. Not to privatize it. But to carry it faithfully in how we live, speak, and love.
This is why gospel stewardship comes first. It holds the highest rank – not because it’s more practical or more visible, but because it’s eternal.
The gospel is the one thing on our Top 5 list of items for Christians to steward that has the power to rescue a soul for all time. You can be generous, gifted, relational, and productive – but if your life doesn’t point to Jesus, you’ve missed the whole point.
It’s just as Jesus said:
“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” – Mark 8:36 NIV
His statement is not just a warning for unbelievers. It’s also a strong reminder for us as believers: if we spend our lives doing good things but neglect the main thing, we’re failing as stewards.
You weren’t just saved by the gospel – you were entrusted with it. You carry it in your testimony. You show it in your choices. You speak it through your courage and compassion. And every day, whether you realize it or not, you’re stewarding it – either faithfully or forgetfully.
That’s why gospel stewardship is the foundation. It shapes everything else. If this part isn’t right, nothing else will be either.
So start by thinking about these questions:
Do people around you know the story of what God has done in your life?
Do your actions, priorities, and conversations reflect the hope you’ve found in Christ?
Are you guarding the gospel – or compromising it?
Are you making it visible – or hiding it?
You don’t have to be a preacher. You don’t have to have all the answers. But if Jesus has changed your life, don’t bury that story. Share it. Live it. Steward it.
Because it is the single most valuable, most eternal gift that God has given you. And He wants you to pass it on.
Are you treating the gospel as the #1 stewardship priority in your life?
