Day 4: The Company We Keep

"The perverse of heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil." (Psalm 101:4, NIV)

Your mother was right: you become like the people you hang out with. David understood that character is contagious, and he was intentional about the influences he allowed into his inner circle.

"Perverse of heart"(Psalm 101:4, NIV) describes people who consistently twist truth, manipulate relationships, and undermine trust. They might be charming and successful, but they're spiritually toxic.

We need discernment about whose voices we allow to shape our thinking and whose values we allow to influence our decisions. The issue isn't avoiding all non-Christians or imperfect people, it's being strategic about deep influence.

TODAY: Take inventory of your closest relationships. Are they helping you grow in wisdom and character, or are they encouraging compromise and cynicism?

GO DEEPER: If you have a relationship that's consistently toxic, consider what healthy boundaries might look like. If you need to have a difficult conversation, pray for wisdom and courage.

PRAYER: God, help me to choose to be with people who will encourage me in my walk with you. Give me wisdom to create healthy boundaries where needed, and grace to do so with love. Surround me with people who point me toward you. Amen.
