Hope When It’s Heavy: Trusting God Is Good When Your Season Is Not

DAY 7 OF 7

Even Though... I Will

From my earliest days of following Jesus, I have been inspired by the honesty of Habakkuk and his ability to declare: even though things are bad, “I will rejoice in the Lord, and I will be joyful in the God of my salvation” (italics mine).

He didn’t wait for his circumstances or surroundings to be good before he could choose to trust, choose joy, or choose to rejoice in everything good about the Lord. He instead decided to hope amid the heaviness. He had such a deep knowing of the goodness of God that he could see God’s goodness, even when so much around him was not good.

Let’s conclude this study following Habakkuk’s example, with a declaration of faith. "Even though... I will." Maybe, like Habakkuk, your season remains heavy, and things still don't look "good" yet. We speak these words in faith, not because the difficulty has disappeared or the answers have arrived. With hearts full of hope, we declare these words because God is good, He is faithful, and He is near.

Even when your season doesn't seem good, your heart can still stay open to His goodness. The Lord invites you to bring your honesty to Him, to let Him speak into your pain with kindness, and to welcome His presence to hold you in uncertainty. No matter what you're going through, you can trust that our good God remains good, and remind your heart to cling to that truth. May you follow Habakkuk’s example, and encourage your heart to declare:"Even though ____________, I will ____________."

Reflection Questions:

  1. What has God revealed to you over the past seven days?
  2. Write your own “Even though... I will” statement of faith.
  3. What is one step you can take to stay rooted in hope?

Prayer:
God, You are still good. Even though things are still heavy, I will choose to trust You. I will rejoice in You. I will fix my eyes on You. Strengthen my heart to walk with You through every season. Amen.

Thank you for joining this 7-day journey. May you carry this truth into every season: Because of Christ, there is always hope.
