Psalm 119 With Matt Chandler: A 10-Day RightNow Media Devotionalಮಾದರಿ

Day 3: Psalm 119:33–48
For growth to occur, certain conditions must be met to stimulate and achieve the growth being targeted. For instance, plants need water and sunlight, muscles need outside resistance, and companies need strong leadership and the right market conditions. The same is true for our spiritual lives. To grow into maturity, we need God’s help, which is what we’ll see in today’s session.
Reflect
Psalm 119 centers on the importance of God’s Word in the lives of His people. And what we see in today’s passage is an increasing awareness of our need for God to transform our posture toward His Word. How would you describe your posture toward God’s Word? In what ways are you disciplined in “keeping” His Word? Where do you find yourself struggling with consistency?
In this psalm, David encourages readers to pursue obedience to God’s Word because in doing so we will come to see Him as good. Following His Word leads to greater intimacy with Him, which broadens our view of His goodness to us. How have you experienced God’s goodness in your obedience to His Word? In what ways does experiencing God’s goodness help us to obey His commands?
Respond
Having a confident faith in God and His Word doesn’t mean knowing all the answers. It means trusting that God is a sufficient answer to any question we have and a sufficient help for anything we face. As we experience difficulties and challenging circumstances, God invites us to cry out to Him for help. When we do, He assures us in His Word that He will grow and mature us.
Write down one or two areas where you want God to grow you. Place your list somewhere that you will regularly see it so you can pray daily over it and rejoice when God answers your prayers.

About this Plan

Even the most mature believers face dark nights of the soul. During those times God seems distant, his Word feels dry, and the vibrant intimacy we knew before seems absent leaving us wondering, “Where is the Lord in this?” In Psalm 119, Matt Chandler aims to introduce viewers to the words of King David who experienced similar seasons of life. Serving as the anchor for the study, Psalm 119 demonstrates the power of God’s Word in the lives of believers and its ability to provide a warm blanket for the soul.
