Psalm 119 With Matt Chandler: A 10-Day RightNow Media Devotionalಮಾದರಿ

Day 8: Psalm 119:137–152
What is something you own that you only use for special occasions, and what makes it special or significant?
An item’s attributes and characteristics can make it especially unique—even set apart for special and unique purposes. That’s where we’ll focus our attention in this session, by talking about the attributes of God and how they make Him unique in contrast to humanity.
Reflect
In this passage, David highlights a clear contrast between God and himself. God is “righteous,” and his judgments and decrees are “just and altogether trustworthy.” On the other hand, David is overwhelmed by anger, “insignificant and despised,” and overtaken by “trouble and distress.” Which of David’s descriptions of God stands out to you most? Which of his descriptions of himself do you identify with most? For what reasons is it good news that God is different from us in these ways?
Being a Christian means knowing God, which changes the way we live. As you reflect on your life, how have you changed since the start of your relationship with God? What has God done to transform you?
Respond
Throughout Scripture, God has revealed Himself as one who is righteous and who abounds in steadfast love. Wherever you find yourself today, remember that truth. Just as He exercised grace and patience in previous generations, He offers that same grace today as an opportunity for repentance.
Take some time to reflect on how God has been gracious to you in your failures and disobedience. As you do, worship Him for the righteousness He’s shown in dealing with your sin through Christ and the steadfast love He shows you continually.

About this Plan

Even the most mature believers face dark nights of the soul. During those times God seems distant, his Word feels dry, and the vibrant intimacy we knew before seems absent leaving us wondering, “Where is the Lord in this?” In Psalm 119, Matt Chandler aims to introduce viewers to the words of King David who experienced similar seasons of life. Serving as the anchor for the study, Psalm 119 demonstrates the power of God’s Word in the lives of believers and its ability to provide a warm blanket for the soul.
