The Coach Approach: A Better Way to Live, Lead, and Leave a Legacyಮಾದರಿ

A BETTER WAY
Is there a better way to connect with others, lead them, and bring out their best? The answer is a resounding YES. We live in a world that often prioritizes telling over asking, talking over listening, and focusing on the impossible rather than the possible. Imagine leading your family, colleagues, and teams in a way that reflects God’s desire for us to recognize greatness in others by loving, serving, and caring for them as Jesus did.
When we learn to lead with curiosity, we ask questions that draw out the potential God has placed within them. An inquisitive questioner engages others' minds on a deeper level, in contrast to merely conveying information, which demands much less mental effort. When we ask questions, everyone feels valued—regardless of their position, title, role, or age—because they have the chance to share their insights. Jesus exemplified this by asking an impressive 307 questions throughout the Gospels, setting the standard for us in how to lead. This is illustrated in Matthew 16:15 when Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do you say I am?" Rather than simply telling them, He posed a thought-provoking question.
Additionally, we need to become legendary listeners. This type of listening is intentional, focusing not only on the words spoken but also on what remains unsaid. It involves being attuned to body language, voice inflection, and repeated phrases. By listening as legendary listeners, we make the speaker feel valued and heard, deepening our relationships in profound ways. As instructed in James 1:19, we should strive to be quick to listen and slow to speak.
Finally, embracing the Coach Approach shifts our mindset to that of a possibility pursuer—a can-do attitude that emphasizes what is achievable and fosters a growth mindset rather than a fixed one. This positive, God-centered thinking will help bring out the best in those around us, as Matthew 19:26 reminds us that with God, all things are possible.
Let’s journey together to uplift others by being an inquisitive questioner, a legendary listener, and a possibility pursuer.
