Another key to keep growing spiritually is to put God first in your life. This means seeking His guidance before turning to anyone else and aiming to please Him above all. Let His Word be your go-to for making decisions, choosing it over any other influences or circumstances.

God put His Holy Spirit inside you to lead and guide you (John 14:17). He’s in you to help you make godly decisions (the right decisions) each and every day. A spiritually growing person listens for and obeys the voice of the Holy Spirit and lives their life by His direction. It’s always the right direction!

Another way to grow spiritually is to keep Colossians 3:23-24 in mind: Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Read those verses again. They are two of my favorites, because they keep my heart and mind where they belong, and they keep me growing. If every day I do everything in the name of Jesus, then I’m on the right track!

These verses tell us to give 100% effort as though we are working for the Lord and not for people -- in our work, in our family, and everywhere else. That keeps us from getting bogged down in petty disagreements or letting problems dominate our viewpoint. Instead, we can act with maturity, knowing that our only goal is to please God, and if He is pleased, then we are going to be okay. That is spiritual growth.

Another sign of spiritual growth is trust. Proverbs 3:5,6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

You can trust God. He always has your best interest at heart, and He is always endeavoring to lead you onto straight paths. That doesn’t mean you won’t have problems in this life, but the more you grow spiritually, the more you’ll be able to get past them and live a life of victory.
