King & Kingdomsಮಾದರಿ

In this story, we see Solomon ask for a “receptive heart” when given the choice to ask for anything from the Lord. In a sense, Solomon did not ask for more head knowledge, but heart knowledge. In the original Hebrew language of this text, the word used here for “receptive” is the word “šāma,” which means “to hear.” Solomon is essentially asking the Lord for a hearing heart, a heart that is open and listening to the guidance, direction, and instruction of the Lord.
Think it Over: What is your heart like today? Is it a "hearing heart" like Solomon's, ready to listen to God?
