Our Song

The joy of birds is one of the most wonderful things about them. They seem to sing the moment they awake, even if they are wakened by cold wind and rain. They sing before they set to work to find something to eat.

And not one is forgotten by God, who knows all the birds of the sky. Not one of us is forgotten either; not one of us is overlooked. Not a song we sing is forgotten or overlooked.

The God of the joy of the birds wants our joy, too. Some of us cannot sing beautiful songs. Many birds cannot. There is one who can only sing “Pretty dear” and another who only sings “Be quick.” But not one bird says, “My song is too small to be worth singing.”

He who loves the joy of birds listens. Because He knows all the birds of the sky, He would know if there was one who would not sing, and He would miss that song. Is there one of us whose song He is missing today?
