Uncuffed: Bulletproofing the Police Marriage

DAY 34 OF 40

# I Forgive You > I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. > Isaiah 43:25 The alpha culture of law enforcement often comes with the threats of preying upon each other to establish a professional pecking order. Alphas have never experienced anything like being hazed until we become one of our nation’s bravest. Then why is the unrelenting cop culture harassment allowed? Because it’s all alpha personalities who fight to establish dominance. If ascending to the top means throwing you under the bus, then so be it. But getting thrown under a bus, actual or figurative, is painful. Try actively forgiving those who hurt you in the squad room, and you will see a major difference in the way you develop a spiritual immunity to their jabs and attacks. You must work to forgive them no matter how hard it is. Trust us, it’s not just you feeling the dump truck of interoffice anxiety. Your spouse and family suffer from it, too. How? Because you come home and dump it on them. Free yourself from those who cause you harm at work, and spare those you love at home. You’ve been through tough times and have learned to endure the struggle on the job. But, by forgiving, you now can break free from it. “I forgive you.” ### CALL TO ACTION: List three people who really get under your skin. Now begin the process of forgiving them. Yes, even if you whisper in the privacy of your car, "_____________, I forgive you." That’s a start to unchaining yourself from the hurt and anger they cause you. Now, the second part of the process is to bless those people. We know, it can be tough, but once you’ve been freed from them and understand that God also loves them, you will see that blessing them is the greatest gift God has given you. We always pray that God blesses them with salvation and someone to come into their lives to lead them there. Try it.
